ARTISTS’ PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS

Visual Artists Ireland (VAI) & Wexford Arts Office 2022
            

Wexford Arts Office is pleased to continue our partnership with Visual Artists Ireland (VAI) in the delivery of Professional Development Workshops for artists based in Wexford in Summer and Autumn 2022. These workshops support artists in their practice and aim to address artists’ specific needs working in a professional environment and are delivered via Webinars and in person events. 
        

All workshops are free and all booking must go be through VAI.  
          

Please note places are limited for the 1-1 sessions. Upcoming workshops this summer include:  

 

Event: Starting & Re-Starting Your Career
Format: Webinar (Online via zoom)
Date: Wednesday 22nd June, 2022
 Time: 11am (1hr webinar) 
         
 

This webinar will address entering the art world and will also focus on those artists who may have lapsed practices and wish to re-establish themselves, their studio practice and begin producing work again. Topics included in this webinar; professional development, re-establishing a creative space/studio, creating your artist network and exploring the landscape of opportunities available to you. Suitable for all levels, such as recent art graduates and artists looking to re connect with the art world. 
The event is free for all County Wexford area based visual artists. After this webinar eight 20 minute 1-on-1 clinic sessions with Catherine Hemelryk (Director of CCA Derry) will be offered to 8 County Wexford based visual artists only (1pm - 5pm) on the day.

Catherine Hemelryk is a curator and Director of CCA Derry~Londonderry and Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts as well as External Examiner at Birmingham School of Art. Catherine is a mentor, guest lecturer, editor, consultant and advisor. Catherine was previously Artistic Director at NN, Northampton gaining NPO status under my leadership, and Curator at CAC Vilnius as well as freelance projects and curatorial residencies spanning Europe including GeoAIR Tbilisi, Sea Foundation Tilburg, Magacin Belgrade, Galerie Antje Wachs Berlin and Wysing Arts Centre, Cambridgeshire.

Event: A Visual Artists Guide to Funding and Applications 
Format: Webinar (Online via zoom)
Date: Monday 4th July, 2022
Time: 11am (1hr webinar) 
          
 

Description: Grants, bursaries, residencies, per cent for art commissions, project proposals...presented by curator and writer on art and architecture, Marianne O’Kane Boal, this webinar will consist of one 45 minute presentation that will take a closer look at all things 'Funding and applications'. The 45 minute presentation will be followed by a 15minute general Q&A discussion open to all attendees.
The event is free for all County Wexford area based visual artists. After this webinar eight 20 minute 1-on-1 clinic sessions with Marianne O’Kane Boal will be offered to 8 County Wexford based visual artists only (1pm - 5pm) on the day.
 
Marianne O’Kane Boal is a well-known curator and writer on art and architecture. She has written extensively on these subjects over the past 20 years.  She writes for the Irish Arts Review, Circa, Perspective, Living Design, Visual Artists Newsletter and Architecture Ireland. O’Kane Boal is currently working as a postgraduate researcher at IT Sligo on her PhD in Social Research. She is a member of AICA (International Association of Art Critics) and Expert Advisor on Art for the Ministerial Advisory Group on Architecture and the Built Environment. She has been delivering professional development workshops for Visual Artists Ireland for over eleven years since 2009 on tendering, creative proposals, presenting work, and public art.
