Wexford County Council are pleased to confirm that Culture Night will take place on Friday September 17th, 2021 from 4pm till late and are looking for expressions of interest to participate. Culture Night is an annual all-island public event that celebrates culture, creativity and the arts. On that night venues and events are available to the public free of charge.
It seems likely that some COVID 19 restrictions will still be in place in September and in order for Culture Night to go ahead in a safe way, online events, hybrid events and managed outdoor projects will be an important feature for this year’s event. We are particularly interested in receiving applications that explore new ideas and formats for presenting cultural activities and proposals can include experimental physical events, online events, projections, audio trails, podcasts, light shows, street art, installations and more. We are also looking for proposals that look at Culture in the broadest sense and can include but are not limited to architecture, design, heritage, environment, traditional arts and new media. Participating venues and organisations will need to adhere to government / HSE guidelines that are in place in September.
Priority will be given to projects:
- of high artistic ambition, with cognisance for inclusivity, sustainability and accessibility, in line with the Arts Council Equality, Human Rights and Diversity Policy.
- that consider culture and creativity in a wide sense to include underrepresented cultural expression and new voices.
- that demonstrate learnings from the past year and strive to connect and share culture and creativity through remote participation, individual experiences, experimental events or self-guided events.
- that encourage more people to visit cultural venues, learn about local heritage and experience culture in their locality.
We are looking for cultural activities that engage a County wide audience (online events or those that can take place remotely) alongside a number of experiences in the main towns of Wexford, Enniscorthy, Gorey and New Ross.
We will be funding a small number of key events up to the amount of €2000 that engage directly with the priorities of Culture Night as outlined above. The majority of awards will be smaller amounts to support a wider range of events across the County. If you would like more information about the application process please contact Tamara Gangnus, the County Wexford Culture Night Coordinator directly using the email below.
Please return completed expression of interest form on or before Friday, 25th of June 2021 to:
