Gorey-Kilmuckridge Municipal District is working with North Wexford Tidy Towns and Development Groups for North Wexford 2K.
This initiative can be promoted by all groups as a National Spring Clean Project.
It involves people ‘adopting’ a 2 km stretch of road and ensuring that it is kept litter free for the month of April. This can fit in with an individual’s daily walk or be part of a more organised effort.
Groups can register more than one stretch of road.
In light of the recent government announcements and in the interests of public health we can no longer approve any applications for community clean ups at this time. Need information and advice on COVID - 19? Go to www.hse.ie/coronavirus .
We will update our website with any changes as they occur.
The areas will be inspected on at least two occasions in April and a Gold, Silver or Bronze standard awarded based on the level of littering.
Please complete a separate registration form for each proposed route and make sure to include details of the start and end point.
Please note that you should also register for National Spring Clean in order to avail of supplies and collection of rubbish.
The ‘Little Things That Matter’ element is also a part of the competition this year again. We are inviting each group to take any existing feature they want along their 2k stretch and showcase it for the competition. It could be a particular set of gate posts, a stretch of wall, an information board, a specimen tree. There will be a single prize for the feature which in judges opinion is best presented and shows the group understanding of their local environment.
We will also run the photography competition so please continue to post your photos on the North Wexford 2k Clean - Facebook page.
