Larry Stapleton’s new book, published by The Liffey Press, is aimed at celebrating the wonderful writing in Van Gogh’s letters.
It spans the artist’s entire adult life and follows the development of his art to its ultimate achievement despite many difficulties.
It includes as illustrations 87 of his drawings and paintings, often in a telling combination of word and image.
This should appeal all whose interests include language and art, as it presents in a unique framing Van Gogh’s own thoughts on his work and life.
