Micro:bit Challenge – WexSci Science Festival

Wednesday, 15th November 2017 - 3:30pm

Micro:bit Challenge: Get Creative, Get Connected, Get Coding with TEKcentral.

In this one-hour workshop, parents and children will work together to program the Micro:bit, which is a powerful, handheld, fully programmable computer designed to encourage children and adults to get actively involved in writing software and building new things for the world around them. Featuring an onboard 5x5 LED Matrix, two integrated push buttons, a compass, Accelerometer and Bluetooth, the device gives a great introduction to the world of programmable components and the wider Internet of Things (IoT). It can be coded from any web browser in Blocks, JavaScript, Python, Scratch and many more. Wirelessly connect and interact with the world around you. Use Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to connect to mobile phones and tablets, take a selfie or drive the music in your playlists. Coding isn’t just for computing class! The Micro:bit is great for design technology, physics and even art and music.

Suitable for children aged 8-12 years. Please phone Enniscorthy Library on 053 923 6055 to book a place. Should you require any supports to fully participate in this event, please contact the Librarian.
