Calling all poets and poetry enthusiasts to Bunclody Library on Thursday 2nd May from 5-6pm. Come along and recite your poem or just enjoy the poetry on offer! 

Poetry Day Ireland takes place on Thursday 2 May 2019 and the theme is Truth or Dare! Whether you share a poem, read a poem, or programme your own event, everyone is invited to join in and celebrate.

Join us at Bunclody Library for a talk by Kieran from The Irish Wildlife Trust. The topic is Ocean Biodiversity. For a long time the significance of biological diversity in the world’s oceans was unclear. It is now known to play a vital role in maintaining the functionality and productivity of ecosystems.

Dr Liam Lysaght, Director of the National Biodiversity Data, talks about the experience of walking it in an event which will offer something for naturalists and the general public alike. The talk, organised by Wexford Naturalists’ Field club is the 2019 Chris Wilson Memorial Lecture.

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the award of the Victory Cross to CSM Martin Doyle - New Ross Library will host a lecture given by Irish Times journalist, author, editor and presenter Ronan McGreevy. Martin Doyle won the Victoria Cross and the Military Medal fighting for Britain in the First World War.

In advance of the second international Pathways to Clean Cooking conference, we offer a free evening talk by environmental health consultant, Niall Roche who will examine recent advances on the wider topics related to clean cooking practices and their potential to impact on global health and the environment.

The second of our free talks in advance of the international Pathways to Clean Cooking conference which is being held on May 30 and 31 in Wexford, features Dr Debbi Stanistreet.

Debbie has recently joined the Epidemiology and Public Health Department of the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland as a Senior Lecturer in Public Health after 25 years at the University of Liverpool in a similar role.
