Dublin born Patrick Joseph McCall is probably best known for ’98 ballads Boolavogue and Kelly the Boy from Killanne. McCall had associations with such luminaries as WB Yeats and Douglas Hyde. Elected to Dublin City Corporation as a member for Wood Quay, he achieved a lot for the residents of the Liberties. On the centenary of his death, McCall biographer, Liam Gaul traces a fascinating life with some of the songs thrown in for good measure.
