Following on from the sucesssful applications made in 2017 and in 2018 and in order to prepare for an anticipated announcement in 2019, the Community Section of Wexford County Council intends to hold 4 Open Workshops – one in each of the main towns – to prepare Community Groups to be in a position to make a competitive application if any such funding is made available in 2019.
Under the 2018 scheme, 12 locations across County Wexford are set to benefit from almost €1.334 million in funding for a wide variety of community-led projects and under the 2017 scheme, 14 locations across County Wexford benefited from almost €1.16 million in funding.
The Town and Village Renewal Scheme is an initiative under the Government’s Action Plan for Rural Development, Realising our Rural Potential, and is part of a suite of national and local support measures to rejuvenate rural towns and villages throughout Ireland. It is funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development and is administered by the Local Authorities.
The Community Department of Wexford County Council, working with the Municipal Districts, will assist Community Groups to develop detailed applications.
Under the 2018 scheme, up to 80% of the total cost for each approved project will be provided by the Department, with the remaining 20% being provided either through community contribution and/or the Local Authority.
