Hook lighthouse
In 2016 Hook Lighthouse developed and launched new guided tours of the lighthouse and campus.
The project was grant aided through Fáilte Ireland’s Ireland’s Ancient East Project. Visitors can also
enjoy the vistas of the south east coast from the tower balcony and explore the previously private
lightkeeper’s watchtower.

New Ross Municipal District supported the following festivals in 2016:
• The New Ross Piano Festival
• The AIMS Choral Festival
• New Ross Classic Car Rally
• Duncannon Sand Sculpting Festival
• Tri the Hook Sprint Triathlon, Fethard-on-Sea.
• Hooked on the Sea Summer Fest, Duncannon.
• 4th July Irish America Fest
• Hook Head ‘Maritime Matters’ Festival
• 1916 Commemorations

Hook Rural Tourism, under licence from Wexford County Council, operated daily guided tours of
Duncannon Fort from July to September.
an Clog mór library park
An Cathaoirleach, Cllr Michael Sheehan officially
opened the park in June. The park is situated
beside the New Ross Library on the site of the
old town swimming pool and is an excellent
example of urban regeneration. The park won
the LAMA IPB best public park in November.
Town Twinning
An Cathaoirleach, Cllr Sheehan attended the London Wexford Association Dinner in Kilburn on behalf
of the District. Guests from Newcastle. Co Down attended and reviewed the annual St Patrick’s Day
Parade in New Ross.
Students from Moncoutant, France visited and the District in October. They stayed with host families
and spent time in local secondary schools. Events and visits to local attractions were arranged.
Members of the New Ross Twinning Committee represented the District in France in September and
brought Three Ros Tapestry frames to an international stitching exhibition hosted by Moncoutant.
