Axis Project. A delegation, headed by Cllr Kathleen Codd-Nolan, Leas Cathaoirleach, Wexford County
Council, travelled to Atlanta and Savannah Georgia in mid-March 2016.
The delegation members engaged in a range of civic and cultural events along with trade/business
meetings during the visit. The highlight of the visit was the signing of a memorandum of
understanding between the two regions, the office of the Mayor of Savannah and committing to
deepening the relationship and extending efforts to build stronger cultural and economic ties
between the regions.
A return delegation from Savannah was hosted
in Wexford from October 2nd to 6th, headed by
the Mayor of Savannah Mr Eddie DeLoach. The
delegation members included tourism,
economic development and business
representatives and included meetings with Visit
Wexford Tourism, Wexford Chamber and
Wexford Enterprise Centre, JFK Trust, local
businesses Equifax and UCT along with civic
functions hosted by the Cathaoirleach of
Wexford County Council and Mayor of Wexford.
Business in the Community
Wexford County Council participated in Business in the Community (BITC) under the Skills @ Work
programme in the first quarter of 2016, coordinated by the Economic Development Section and
working with Coláiste Abbain, Adamstown. The programme consists of a number of sessions with a
group of transition year students at risk of early school leaving. The programme provides insight into
the work of Wexford County Council through meeting the staff and hearing their career and life
stories. CV preparation and mock interview sessions, as well as a visit to County Hall are also included.
Business in the Community is a Corporate Social responsibility membership network, funded by the
Department of Education and Skills, the Department of Children and Youth Affairs and membership

Other notable events during 2016
south east franchise showcase: Over 50 existing and prospective business owners from across the
county attended a franchise event with a view to exploring new business opportunities offered by
the sector. Organised by Wexford Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the Irish Franchise
Association and sponsored by Wexford County Council, the event provided attendees with an
opportunity to meet with 10 members of the Irish Franchise Association, who were looking to bring
their business models to County Wexford.
The lodgers: Filming completed in Wexford on The Lodgers, a gothic ghost story set in 1920s Anglo-
Norman Ireland in late 2016. The production company, Tailored Films, sincerely thanked the local
businesses, Clongeen community, Wexford County Council and Loftus Hall for the support in making
