Artist In Residence Sought for Eadan's Glen Housing Estate, Ferns

Creative Ireland Wexford Culture Team Projects 2026

Enniscorthy MD

Artist in Residence at Eadan’s Glen Social Housing Estate, Ferns

Budget/Fee: €8,000 with €2,000 for travel and materials

Timeline: February - October 2026

Eadan’s Glen Housing Estate in Ferns, with its name linked to the ecclesiastical history of the town, is a new estate of about 19 houses built in 2024, with stage 2 and 3 to be built in the coming years. A mixed demographic of ages and nationalities reside there.

Creative Residency

The Creative Ireland Programme and the Housing Office at Wexford County Council in collaboration with the Enniscorthy Municipal District now invites proposals from collaborative and socially engaged artists to complete a residency at Eadan’s Glen between February and October 2026. The residency will support the development of the Residents’ Association and build upon the sense of community already established there. Taking a community-focused approach that values diversity and belonging, it will celebrate the residents of Eadan’s Glen, how they can welcome incoming residents, and shape a sense of place and community pride in the estate. It is intended that this creative residency will meaningfully connect the residents of Eadan’s Glen not only to each other, but also to the wider community of Ferns.

The residency will:

  • Empower the community to collaborate and engage creatively in the co-production of new and engaging site-specific work that explores community and togetherness on the Eadan’s Glen estate;
  • Respond to the needs and interests of the community by providing a programme of activity that has multiple components such as workshops and events;
  • With young residents, develop an event for Cruinniú na nÓg 2026 (a day of creativity for children and young people);
  • Through creativity, support and respond to the development of the Residents’ Association of Eadan’s Glen;
  • Provide opportunities for the wider community of Ferns to get to know the estate as a valuable addition to the town.

Artist Profile

The artist must:

  • Be mid-career or established in any artistic medium;
  • Have extensive experience and be passionate about working with communities and responding to their needs;
  • Have a regular presence in Eadan’s Glen throughout the residency.

Project Management

As well as plan and deliver the project, the artist will be expected to project manage. Some limited project management support will be available from the Creative Communities Engagement Officer and the Housing Office.
