Draft Local Biodiversity Action Plan - Public Consultation
Wexford County Council has prepared a Draft Local Biodiversity Action Plan (LBAP) following consultation with various stakeholders. The Draft LBAP proposes a structured approach to biodiversity conservation and restoration at local level in County Wexford.
We are now inviting you to participate in the public consultation process which runs from 1st May to 11th June, 2026 inclusive.
A copy of the Draft LBAP is available to view on the Wexford County Council website at https://consult.wexfordcoco.ie
The Draft LBAP may also be inspected during public opening hours from Friday, 1st May, 2026 to Thursday, 11th June, 2026 inclusive at the following locations:

Making a Submission or Observation
Written submissions or observations regarding the Draft LBAP, are invited from members of the public and other interested parties. Submissions or observations may be made in one of two ways:
- Online via the Council’s Public Consultation Portal at https://consult.wexfordcoco.ie
- In writing (marked “Draft Local Biodiversity Action Plan”) to Climate Action Team, Environment Section, Wexford County Council, County Hall, Carricklawn, Wexford.
Submissions or observations must be made in writing no later than 5.00pm on Thursday, 11th June, 2026. Late submissions will not be accepted.
Please consider the following in making your submission:
- Submissions should be in ONE medium only i.e. online or in hard copy.
- Submissions or observations should include your name and address and, where relevant, details of any organisation, community group or company etc. you represent.
- Children, or groups or associations representing the interests of children, are particularly encouraged to make submissions or observations.
- Written submissions or observations with respect to the Draft LBAP, made within the period stated, will be taken into consideration before the making of the LBAP.
- Please ensure that no vexatious, libellous or confidential information, including confidential information relating to a third party (in respect of which the third party has not, expressly, or impliedly in the circumstances, consented to is disclosure) is included.
- All submissions/observations will be subject to the Data Protection Act 1988-2018 and the Freedom of Information Act 2014.
Public Information Drop-in Events:
Council staff will be available, and a summary presentation will be given at each of the public drop-in consultation events at the following locations:
- Enniscorthy Library – Tuesday, 12th May, 2026 – 2.30pm to 4pm
- Gorey Library – Thursday, 21st May, 2026 – 7pm to 8.30pm
- Wexford Library – Tuesday, 2nd June, 2026 – 7pm to 8.30pm
- Our Lady’s Island Community Centre – Thursday, 4th June, 2026 – 1pm to 2.30pm
- New Ross Library – Monday, 8th June, 2026 – 2.30pm to 4pm
