New Ross Municipal District Christmas Event Update
Due to the current industrial action and ongoing negotiations between unions and the government, the New Ross Town Christmas Event which was scheduled for Saturday 14th November is being rescheduled until early December.
The District office is currently contacting the various contractors and community groups who help with the event in relation to a new date in December, and we expect to announce those details at the monthly district meeting next week.
The District staff work tirelessly and with great fondness on the Nollaig New Ross Event every year, to ensure it is a magical evening for the children of New Ross. This year is no different and we look forward to another excellent event in December, subject to agreement between the government and the unions by then.
In the meantime, work continues on installing the beautiful Christmas lights and trees in New Ross, and the festive lighting will be on from the 14th as originally planned.
Our Christmas Colouring Competition has been extended until 27th November, and entries can be dropped into the Tholsel, along with the suggested €1 donation, with all proceeds going directly to the Jack and Jill Foundation. Even if an event is ultimately unable to proceed, the competition will continue and our winners will still receive some fantastic prize hampers containing wares from our local businesses.
We're also inviting businesses in New Ross to take part in our Christmas Window Display Competition. If you'd like to enter, please email nrreception@wexfordcoco.ie. Judging will take place on Monday 14th December, with Shop Local Vouchers awarded to the businesses judged 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
We will issue further updates as plans develop and look forward to another great Christmas in New Ross. A reminder as always, to shop local this Christmas and support your local businesses.
