Expressions of Interest – Community Support Centres

Wexford County Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from community centres, sports facilities, and other suitable local publicly accessible buildings to be considered as Community Support Centres.

The Community Support Centres may be activated to support communities by providing a space where they can access services and information during emergencies such as the aftermath of severe weather events, extended power outages, or other disruptions.

Wexford County Council acknowledges the vital role that community organisations and volunteers play in incidents such as adverse weather, flooding events and the forest / brush fires. We are working in partnership with local communities to constantly improve resilience and identify local volunteers with access to suitable buildings that may be used in times of emergency.

To facilitate this national initiative, several high-powered generators have been supplied to each local authority for use in emergency situations to provide uninterrupted power to centres that are activated. The Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage has provided funding for the installation of changeover switches for designated centres so the generators can be deployed quickly where necessary.

Community and sports centres with suitable facilities and an active volunteer base may submit an Expression of Interest via the national portal using the following link:

Please note that Wexford County Council will manage the scheme for Co. Wexford and that data will not be shared outside of the organisation.

If you require any assistance in completing the online form or have any queries in relation to this scheme, please email communitysupportcentre@wexfordcoco.ie.
