This Is Art! Exhibition is on in the Wexford Arts Centre on Saturday the 10th June at 1.00pm.
Join us to view the amazing creative skills of Wexford’s young people whose work focused on the theme ‘This is Inspiration’.
These young artists are showing us what compels them to create, where they get ideas from and what sparks their creativity. Their work is also displayed on the national stage in the This is Art digital gallery.
Judging is now taking place and the winners will be announced at Cruinniú na nÓg on 10th June.

‘Explorers of the Imagination – Flights of Fancy’ Red Moon Creative Arts Theatre
‘The Explorer of the Imagination’ invites children 7-12 years to join her convoluted-self and the Wonderous Walter Wizard on more inspiring ‘flights of fancy’. Storytelling, story making, drama, crafting and lots of fun are the order of the day with this 1.5-hour, action-packed creative arts workshop!
The children’s brimming ‘imagination stations’ commonly known as ‘creative minds’ will be challenged to conjure up their very own fantastical characters such as the intriguing individuals from the Explorer’s Stories. They will create costume-pieces to suit, and then collaborate on a magnificent mini-performance based on their own imaginings inspired by the Explorer’s intrepid adventures through the Innerverse!
At the end of their journey the children will go home with their costume pieces as well as an original illustration of the Explorer and Walter Wizard to colour in, with space to add their own character to the scene. They will also receive a copy of the excerpt from the Explorer’s Travelogue with a section to add their own account of the day’s adventures.

The science of flight - design and make a Kite Anyone 4 Science
In this workshop lasting 60 minutes, you will see how machines stay in the air and understand the science of flight. You will each design and make their own kite and test their prototypes. At the end of the workshop the teacher will also demonstrate a flying tea bag. Is it magic or Science?
Each workshop will be for 20 children maximum per workshop and is suitable for ages 6-12

Whether you are a beginner or expert, come and get creative to design and build your own Kite prototype. Let your imagination and your Kite soar!!

Feeling in Motion 2 Many Dance Moves
Join Becci Whelan in New Ross Library Park for a dance-packed morning of creativity to celebrate Cruinniú na nÓg.
11.00am - Free Dance workshop with Becci Whelan Artistic Director of 2 Many Dance Moves. The workshop will teach children how to express their emotions in an artisitic way. Workshop participants then have the opportunity to feature in the live dance performance. Suitable for children aged 3-7 years.
Please only book children that are taking part in the workshop as places are limited.
11.30am - Live dance performance - "Feeling in Motion".
The performance is created for young audiences aged 3-7 years but is fully enjoyable for the public including children of all ages and their families.
Audience members do not have to book. All are welcome to enjoy the live dance performance
Art & Nature: Painting with natural materials
Artists Karla Sanchez and David Begley will bring you on a journey through the elements in nature and agricultural materials that can be used to make natural inks and pigments. Experience the opportunity to use them in your own creations inspired by the surroundings of the farm.
Workshop 1 with Karla Sanchez will reveal a couple of methods to make natural pigments using soil and clay. Then you will use these pigments in your own compositions inspired by the farm surroundings and nature.
Workshop 2 with David Begley explore the different methods to make ink from tannins and natural materials such as alder cones and iron water. Then you can experiment with these inks to draw a portrait or two.

Rod Puppet Making Bridget Ní Dhuinn
Designer and maker Bridget Ní Dhuinn invites you to join her in her breath-taking world of costume, puppetry and mask making.
Working in pairs and with Bridget on day 1 you will begin by designing your rod puppet which is operated from beneath by means of wooden rods. You will also sculpt its face and hands in potter’s clay.
Then on day 2 you will make colourful and inventive clothes for your rod puppet using glue and fabric.
On the final day you will paint your rod puppets face, finish any costume bits, and assemble all your rod puppets parts. Finishing to applause with an impromptu puppet show.

Tara Hill Art Trails
After a successful year last year, the Tara Hill Art Trails project is back! This year the Gorey Scouts will be involved creating the final workshop at the end of the trails.
Two experienced artists and educators will facilitate six fun and engaging art projects outdoors. Tara Hill, with beautiful vistas reaching across the north Wexford coastline is the perfect setting for uplifting and inspiring art projects. You will be captivated by your surroundings and easily soak up the natural environment.
You will explore both digital spaces with the real spaces of Tara Hill through visual art, craft, and biodiversity.
You will collect ready-made art packs in small A3 size portfolio sleeves. These packs will have A4 sketch pad, drawing pencils, colour pastels, or pencils and markers, masking tape, pritt-stick, and a child-safe scissors. You will follow the walking trail keeping an eye open for the many QR codes that will be on display. By scanning a QR code, you will access directly a pre-built web page containing the information and instructions you need to successfully complete creative tasks.
Your work can be photographed and displayed on the website in the form as an online exhibition from 9am
Creative Writing Workshop
Join Margaret Galvin, poet and writer for a creative session at Gorey library. Discover new and unexpected ways to use language. Laughter, fun and new stories guaranteed.
The aim of the workshop is to present a few sample texts to children to stimulate imagination and a personal creative response. Writing prompts are offered to enable children to write their own and group-based pieces.
Sensory perception is key to good writing. Sensory stimuli will be used to pique various senses and express the awareness in writing.
The session will be very relaxed. There will be an emphasis on fun with language, storytelling and confidence boosting activities with language. Various texts will be selected to stimulate and support discussion and to prompt an empathetic understanding of content.
Seomra Traidisiúnta
Seomra Traidisiúnta is an immersive, creative programme for children and young people under the expert guidance of traditional singer, folklore collector & educator Rachel Uí Fhaoláin (Ceol Mo Chroí) and digital storyteller & educator John Ó Faoláin (Traditional Archive Channel).
Through the programme you will actively engage with our rich traditional music and performance history. With Rachel Uí Fhaoláin you will explore traditional song, our song making heritage, and performance, while supporting the Irish language. John Ó Faoláin will deliver hands on workshops where you will discover how to use professional cameras, recording devices, microphones, lights & editing equipment.
With hands on learning and professional filming equipment, you will be encouraged to take a leading role in digital technology, to record, share and archive their new songs and stories. These new skills will be required to record the final performance event for the online screening for Cruinniú na nÓg 2023.

Spinning Plates with Juggler Brendan
You have collected your spinning plate and watched the online video ‘Learn to spin a plate with @ISACSIreland’ now join Juggler Brendan at the library.
Brendan will facilitate 60-minute group workshops starting with spinning your plates together, don’t worry if you haven’t already had a go you will be spinning soon.
Juggler Brendan will also perform and bring you into the exciting world of the circus he will reveal how to juggle and other circus stunts.

Claymazing
A kids fun workshop featuring mess-free, air-drying modelling clay in multiple colours is a creative and engaging activity for children.
The clay is specially designed to be non-toxic and easy to handle, so even young children can participate in the fun.
The air-drying feature of the clay means that once the children have finished sculpting their creations, they simply need to let the clay dry naturally in the air.

Are you a 10-18 year old who loves music and wants to learn how to play the ukulele? Then Wexford's Music Generation Program has the perfect workshop for you! Introducing "Uke N Sing," a 2-hour workshop that will teach you how to play the ukulele and sing your favourite songs.
Led by experienced music instructors, this workshop is designed to be fun, engaging, and accessible to all levels of skill. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience with music, you'll learn how to strum the ukulele, read chord charts, and sing in harmony with others.
And the best part? At the end of the workshop, you'll get to showcase your newfound skills with a performance for your friends and family. Imagine the thrill of playing your favourite song on stage, accompanied by a group of fellow musicians!

Come and join us for an exciting workshop exploring the world of traditional music!
In partnership with Wexford's Music Generation program, we're thrilled to offer a workshop for 12-18 year olds that's led by a traditional music musician. Whether you're a seasoned musician or just starting out, this workshop is the perfect opportunity to learn more about traditional music and meet other like-minded musicians.
During the workshop, you'll learn to play traditional tunes and explore the rhythms and melodies that make this genre of music so special. Our mentor will provide guidance and mentorship throughout the workshop, helping you to improve your skills and learn new techniques.
At the end of the workshop, we'll all come together for a jam session, where you'll have the chance to show off your new skills and play alongside your fellow musicians. It's a great opportunity to put your learning into practice and experience the joy of playing traditional music with others.

Join Red Moon Creative Arts Theatre for two hours of fun and imaginative exploration in this
Drama and Music/Sound-Making workshop. With a focus on how to create stories without words.
Using movement, musicality, facial expressions, physical action, percussion and, most of all, the childrens’ wonderful creative minds, this dramatic adventure for 7–12 year olds is sure to open out new ways to express and embrace those wild ideas!
With a short Performance/Parade, ‘A Perfect Storm’, at the end, families are invited to cheer on participants as they present the results of their imaginative expedition!

‘Rosslare Song’ Youth Project
Are you a young person aged 11 -15?
Do you want to write, sing, perform and hear your song on the radio? Musicians Peter and Aileen McCamley of Ad Personam Culture Events Ltd are inviting you to join them in an exciting musical journey in the Rosslare Strand area.
As a group you will write a song plus be guided in deciding and creating the style and genre of the music and song you are creating. You will take part in rehearsals and create a short documentary style of film of your experience.
On Cruinniu day as a finale you will present your song in a live performance!

Come along and try out youth theatre with WACT. This workshop will focus on the empowerment of moving and making theatre together as part a group.
If you are nervous at the thought of joining a youth theatre group but really want to give it a go this is the perfect opportunity to start your youth theatre adventure.

County Wexford Youth Theatre, based in Bare Cheek’s Studios are holding two acting workshops. Each workshop will last 90-minutes and is suitable for those aged 12+.

As part of our Cruinniú na nÓg celebrations here in Bunclody Library, we are delighted to announce that Mairéad from Moo Music is back with a fun music-filled hour for children aged 0-5 years. Music is an essential part of every child’s development and the 125+ original Moo Music songs used at the sessions are positive, uplifting, fun and educational. The interactive sessions will help your child gain confidence and develop memory, language and coordination skills in an exciting, enjoyable and multi-sensory way.
