Wexford County Council Noise Action Plan 2019-2023

The Noise Action Plan was prepared in accordance with the requirements of the European Noise Regulations 2018, S.I. No 549 of 2018. These Regulations give effect to EU Directive 2002/49/EC relating to the assessment and management of environmental noise. The Noise Action Plan is based on the strategic noise mapping prepared by TII, as the only noise source requiring assessment is generated by major roads carrying traffic in excess of the current threshold levels. It is important to note Wexford’s only major noise source for the purpose of this plan is major roads.

Since the first plan was produced, Wexford County Council has steadily improved its resources with respect to the management of noise. It currently has a network of 3 Type 2 sound level meters in the county which record noise levels continuously and provide real time data.
