Enterprise and Creativity – Artist in Residence at The Hatch Lab
The Creative Ireland Programme at Wexford County Council has launched a pilot Creative Residency programme in the Hatch Lab in Gorey. Filmmaker Terence White has been selected as artist in residence, and will work with businesses in the Hatch Lab, as well as young innovators from the North Wexford area, while developing his own professional arts practice.
The Hatch Lab is a Tech Incubator space located in the M11 Business Campus and was designed specifically for Technology Companies, supporting business concepts, business start-ups and co-working staff. This unique residency has been established to strengthen The Hatch Lab’s capacity for creative thinking in business, while also providing an opportunity for the residency holder to expand his creative practice and professional development within the business environment of the lab.
The programme commenced with a research phase and is using a novel and creative approach to surveying the resident businesses. A classic Post and Telegraphs-style phone booth, made by Gorey-based artist Ali Kemal Ali, was installed in the Hatch Lab, for participants to record their suggestions for the creative residency.
The artist will produce events for Culture Night and engage with the wider Gorey community during their residency, contributing to The Hatch Lab’s position of attracting the next wave of young entrepreneurs.
