Tuesday 16th January 2018 saw the inaugural meeting of County Wexford’s Older People’s Council. This group has been established under the auspices of the County Wexford Age Friendly Programme to put the voice of older people central to decision-making about matters that affect their everyday living.

The Templeshannon Regeneration Strategy sets out Wexford County Council’s ambitious regeneration proposals for the Templeshannon area of Enniscorthy over the next 15-20 years.

Wexford County Council will host a meeting on 16th January 2018 at 10.30am in the Riverside Park Hotel for people aged 55 years and older and for the organisations that represent them.
Elections will be held on the day for Wexford’s first ever Older People’s Council.

Wexford County Council has been awarded judgment in the High Court against Seafield Hotel Limited for more than €84,000. The judgment follows a long-running action by Wexford County Council against Seafield Hotel Limited in respect of its failure to pay commercial rates.
Wexford County Council was also awarded the costs of its action.
The winners of the IPB Pride of Place Awards 2017, in association with Co-operation Ireland, were announced on Saturday night last at a gala awards ceremony in Letterkenny, with Lady’s Island Wexford beating off stiff opposition from Tory Island to achieve the top accolade in the Islands and Coastal Communities category.
The Minister for Rural & Community Development, Michael Ring TD, recently announced a Government investment in public libraries of €3.75 million from the Department of Rural and Community Development, supplemented by approximately €1.25 million from local authorities for public libraries.

Wexford’s best young entrepreneurs were announced on Friday last 24 Nov at the County Final of Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur (IBYE) competition. Run by the Local Enterprise Offices, IBYE is supported by the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation and Enterprise Ireland. Now in its 4th year, this year’s competition attracted almost 1,500 applications nationwide.
There were celebrations all round in Bunclody following the news that Bunclody Town Team won a Merit Award for it’s Art Bank and Summer Festival in the 2017 Bank of Ireland Enterprise Town Awards, which were announced in Tullamore on Wednesday 15th November.
Plans by Carlow Institute of Technology for the development of a third level campus in Wexford Town moved a step closer to realisation today when the members of Wexford County Council unanimously adopted a motion to rezone the candidate site for educational purposes.

Council makes Significant Progress in Housing Delivery during 2017
At a Special Meeting of Wexford County Council held this afternoon, Friday 10 November, senior housing officials confirmed that the implementation of the Council’s ambitious Housing Programme is proceeding as planned.
Wexford County Council supported by funding from Science Foundation Ireland (SFI), is delighted to present the first weeklong science festival in County Wexford to promote science, technology, engineering and maths, (STEM).
WexSci runs during Science Week from 12th – 19th November.
