Rosslare Municipal District Strategic Plan 2024 - 2030
Rosslare Municipal District is the newest Municipal District in County Wexford having been formed in 2019. The district is unique in that it has no large urban centre and the elected members of Rosslare MD recognise this uniqueness as a real opportunity to share the focus for development across the 23 Electoral Divisions and 28 villages and settlements in the district. This has led to the development of a 7 year Strategic Plan for the district which the elected members have prepared with the assistance of Rural Development Consultant Dr. Yvonne Byrne. The Rosslare MD Strategic Plan sets out 6 high level goals which have been informed by a culmination of data and information gathered through a series of consultations with local representatives from each of the villages and settlements and engagement with other stakeholders to identify and evidence local needs, highlight priorities and establish positive initiatives and relevant programmes for the district that will help to strengthen and grow communities in the district by working together collaboratively.
The Strategic Plan has also been informed by key statistics and other data relevant to the 23 Electoral Divisions and 28 villages and settlements and this data has been captured on an interactive mapping tool developed by the ICT team in Wexford Co Council and represents another unique aspect of the approach to develop the first Strategic Plan for any municipal district in County Wexford. The data layers have assisted in identifying the strengths of the district and have brought focus on gaps and weaknesses which will inform opportunities for development and will be a great asset in informing proposals and plans over the seven year term of the Rosslare Municipal District Plan. The work completed to date on the Strategic Plan will inform the development of the phase two objectives of delivering a work plan and road map of projects and proposals for the 23,435 people who live in the district and for others who choose to work and visit this very unique district.
