Built, Cultural and Natural Heritage

The Heritage Act (1995) identifies many types of cultural, natural and built heritage which form part of the national heritage. These include; monuments, archaeological objects, heritage objects, architectural heritage, flora, fauna, wildlife habitats, landscapes, seascapes, wrecks, geology, heritage gardens and parks and inland waterways.  
Heritage can be broadly classified into cultural, natural (biodiversity) and built heritage.

Natural Heritage & Biodiversity

Natural heritage includes native plants and animals and the habitats they live in. Biodiversity, which is short for biological diversity, relates to the variety of plant and animal life in a particular habitat or area.
