Sale to a Motor Dealer or Garage

Sale to a Motor Dealer

The motor dealer to whom the vehicle is being sold must have a garage code. If they don't use "Sale to a Private Owner".

For vehicles registered on or after 1st January 1993 

  1. Complete form RF105 with the garage, ensuring the Garage Code is input where indicated on the form,
     
  2. Give the vehicle's Registration Certificate (RF101) to the garage
     
  3. The seller should then post the completed RF105 form to:
Department of Transport,
Shannon,
Co. Clare.

which will process the change of ownership to the motor dealer.

For vehicles registered before 1st January 1993

  1. Complete form RF200 with the garage, ensuring the Garage Code is input where indicated on the form.
     
  2. Give the brown Registration Book (logbook) to the garage
     
  3. The seller should send the completed form RF200 to their local Motor Tax Office, which will process the change of ownership to the motor dealer.
