A Special Collection Relating to County Wexford and its People
The collection includes resources that relate to the:
- History & archaeology
- Economy
- Religion
- Landscape and cultural heritage
- Natural and built environment
- Wexford-born authors, regardless of subject matter
How can the collection be accessed?
The main Local Studies Collection, which contains approximately 3,000 individual titles, is housed at Library Headquarters. These materials are for research purposes only and are not available for loan. Because of their unique nature, items from these collections are accessible only under the supervision of library staff. If you would like to consult an item in this Collection, please email wexfordlib@wexfordcoco.ie with the title and if possible, we will arrange for the item to be sent to your nearest library branch so you can consult the item there.
Wexford, New Ross, Gorey, Bunclody and Enniscorthy branches contain limited research collections of popular or frequently asked-for local material.
In addition, the Wexford branch houses the microform collection which includes:
- Local newspapers which are not available on the British Newspaper Archive
- Church of Ireland records for the Wexford Union of Parishes
A microfilm reader must be booked in advance to view this material.
