Wexford Public Libraries can’t wait to welcome all the 4, 5 and 6 year old children in to collect their free book bag and begin their library membership journey.

To help children to navigate starting school, libraries have put together a bag with books and resources just for them that can be collected at any of the Wexford library branches.

The ‘My Little Library Book Bag’ is available free for every child starting school in 2025 to help them to prepare for this big step.

Children and their parents or guardians can collect the bag at any library throughout the County.

Each of the My Little Library Book Bag contains:

A book on starting school and a second book on making friends or being comfortable to be yourself.
An invitation to join the library if not already library members and a special ‘My Little Library’ cardholder.
A range of resources for parents/children to support the transition to primary school.
Book bags are available in both Irish and English.

My Little Library Irish Glossaries

Check out these Irish Glossaries in English, French, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Ukrainian to accompany the Irish language bags.

Irish - English Glossaries

Irish - French Glossaries

Irish - Polish Glossaries

Irish - Portuguese Glossaries

Irish - Russian Glossaries

Irish - Spanish Glossaries

Irish - Ukrainian Glossaries

Enjoy these languages glossaries, to support your reading the Irish language stories with your children.

We hope that once they visit the library to pick up their book bag, our new library members and their families will come back regularly to keep their bag filled up with borrowed books and to take part in story-times, classes and all the other events we have to offer at the library, all at no cost.

More supports to help the transition to primary school are available on the Let’s Get Ready page on Gov.ie.
