Sensory Cubbie

Wexford Town Library has a Sensory Cubbie

What is the Cubbie?

The Cubbie is a pod designed to help with regulating sensory experiences.

Users can customise their experience by changing:

Lights

Sound

Visuals

You can create a calming or stimulating environment, depending on what you need.

How do I access it?

If you have used a Cubbie before and have your own PIN, you can enter this PIN on the screen to start your session.

If you do not have a PIN, ask a staff member for help and they can start a session for you.

Once you have been logged in to the Cubbie, the screen will ask you a series of questions before you get started.

Getting Started

To get started, you will need to answer a few questions on the Cubbie screen.

How are you feeling today?

The Cubbie will ask you how you are feeling, so it can recommend suitable programmes.

Press the image on the screen that best matches your mood.

Suggested Programmes

The Cubbie will suggest some programmes based on your mood

For example, it will recommend energising programmes if you are tired or calming programmes if you are angry

Pick the programme that sounds best to you - if you need to, you will be able to adjust the settings later

Time Duration

You can choose one of the following options:

05 minutes

10 minutes

15 minutes

Personalise Your Experience

After your session starts, you can change the settings to personalise your sensory experience.

To do this, press the button on the screen that says “Take Control”.

This will bring you to a new screen. Here you can choose to change the light, audio, or video settings or turn them off.

You can dim the lights if they are too bright.

You can change the video that is displayed on the screen.

Note: There are two additional seats available for the Cubbie - a large and small swing seat. Please ask a staff member if you would like to use one.
